The main goal is to enhance research and education at BSU, with a special focus in the areas of database management systems, agent-based computing, real-time operating systems, image processing and multimedia applications. This collaboration will enable BSU to take advantage of the research facilities at the University of Maryland and the expertise of its faculty. More specifically, the objectives of CERI are to (i) strengthen the research in the areas of database management systems, agent-based computing, real-time operating systems, and multimedia application; (ii) conduct collaborative research in these areas and expand into other areas; (iii) provide opportunity for joint faculty research projects; (iv)integrate research into the curriculum; (v) develop new academic programs; (vi) have undergraduate and graduate students participate in research with faculty of BSU, UMIACS and CSD, and (vii) establish a long term collaboration of mutual interest between BSU and UMD. Such collaboration will push forward the vision of the Computer Science program at BSU and become a nationally reputed and leading producer of minority computer science professionals.
